Khushiram is a fifth generation block printer from Chhipa Community of Sanganer, Jaipur. He painted his ancestral learning in the colours of crafts and design education at IICD, Jaipur. This augmented his craft knowledge with the understanding of design elements and present economic, political, cultural and environmental dynamics. During his studies, he focused on textile based product design, which culminated into a final year project with the City Palace Museum, Jaipur. His skill, spirit for experimentation and a balanced sense of aesthetics coupled with market knowhow, rendered him with the opportunities to work with established design labels like ‘Ayush Kasliwal Design private limited’(AKFD), Jaipur, prominent industry players like ‘Rangasutra’ and dedicated government entities like ‘Rural Non Farm Development authority’(RUDA).
Khushiram is currently the Creative Director at AK Groups, and is also working laboriously on his own label, “KHUSHIRAM”, which deals in exports, wholesale, and retail of authentic sustainable block printed and woven textiles.
His main goal is to sustain the ancient craft of block printing while giving it a new direction through meaningful innovation in terms of prints, designs and materials.
