FAQ

1. What are the timings of the Institute?
A. 9:30am to 5:30pm. However, the students are expected to work as per the module plan guidelines and faculty instructions. After scheduled class hours, library is kept open for extra hours, if needed.
2. How many days classes are held in a week?
A. As per the regular schedule, classes are held from Monday to Friday, 5 days a week. Often, field trips, seminars, workshops are conducted on weekends.
3. Are the courses offered by the Institute recognized?
A. Yes, IICD’s UG Degree Programme (4years) and PG Degree programme (2years) degree programmes are recognized. The degrees are awarded by Vishvakarma Skills University, Jaipur (VSURAJ)
4. What is the course methodology? How and when are evaluations done? Is there any written test, practical or Viva?
A. Courses are mostly a combination of theory and practical inputs, which emphasize the understanding of material, technique, cultural context and inputs from crafts persons. The evaluations are ongoing through the module and may include a written test, practical or viva. At the end of the semester a jury-based evaluation is conducted. The jury has at least one external member.
5. Does Institute prescribe the course material/ books?
A. Every module guide has a list of relevant books that the student can refer to for the subject. There are no prescribed textbooks. Students can avail library facilities.
6. Is the Course curriculum different for each specialization?
A. Yes. The course curriculum is based on the material and technique that each specialization offers. This varies for hard material, soft material, fired materialand fashion design departments. The curriculum has been designed by experts/ specialist in respective fields.
7. Does Institute provide Financial Assistance ?

Financial Assistance

A. Ambuja Educational Institute (AEI)

Ambuja Educational Institute (AEI) offers Financial Assistance towards semester tuition fee for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The financial assistance will be granted on a yearly basis. Application forms for financial aid along with guidelines are available with Registrar (Academics).

B. Lady Bamford Foundation (LBF) - Nila House

Lady Bamford Foundation (LBF) - Nila House offers financial assistance towards 100% semester fees including academic expenses to 8 UG students who are artisan wards.

C. Chhattisgarh Hastshilp Vikas Board

Chhattisgarh Hastshilp Vikas Board offers sponsorship towards full IICD fees including hostel and mess with academic expenses. This scheme is for ten students from Chhattisgarh.

D. Merit Cum Means Scholarship

The financial assistance under “Merit Cum Means Scholarship for the students from Economically Weaker Background Policy” is provided to maximum of 4 (four) students from low-income families in each academic year. The Students must take initiatives to search & apply for financial assistance for various schemes of the central and states Govt.

8. What is the fee structure? How much is the hostel and Mess fee? Is it compulsory to avail both Hostel and Mess?

Note:

  • The above fee structure is applicable to students joining from academic year commencing from 15th July 2024.There are two semesters in one academic year.
  • If a student fails to pay the fees on or before due date, or does not report to the institute even after three weeks of commencement of Academic Session (academic session commences on 15th July 2024), his/her admission shall be liable to be cancelled.
  • The Institute reserves the right to revise the fees through prior notice to the students and his/her parents/guardians.
  • It is compulsory to avail Mess facility if one wishes to avail hostel facility.
  • * For Mediclaim, in point number 4, Vidyarthi Mediclaim of Rs. 700/- is applicable to students below 25yrs of age. Rest, will have to pay approx. Rs. 1100/- for normal mediclaim policy, or, as per actual rate.
9. What is the profile of candidate after graduating from the Institute? Where are the graduates placed? (Industry names). Some references of alumni?
A. Students graduating from the Institute choose a profession of a Craft Designer/ Fashion Designer/Craft Manager/Researcher/Entrepreneur/Freelance designer/Merchandiser with exporters/Facilitators in NGOs and organizations dealing with crafts.

10. How far is the Institute from main city?
A. Institute is in the main city of Jaipur.By Air port: Approx. 6.8 Kms/ 18 minutes

By Railway:Approx. 8.5 Kms/25 minutes
By Bus: From Sindhi Camp Bus Station Approx. 8.1 Kms/ 23 minutes
11. Is hostel accommodation available for both boys as well as girls? Where is hostel located? What are the facilities provided in the hostel? What is the occupancy of rooms?

A. Yes, hostel facility are available for boy and girls. Girls’ hostel is located within the Institute’s premises.

Hostel has air-conditioned rooms, mess facility, Wi-Fi environment, TV and a common room. Room occupancy varies from 3 to 4 in each room as per size of the room. Hostels have limited accommodation. So, students are accommodated on first-come-first-serve basis.

IICD provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostel facility for girls is available at the Girls Hostel within IICD Campus and for boys, hostel located at Gole Market, Jawahar Nagar which is approximately 5 kms from IICD campus.

Boys take Paying Guest accommodation outside the institute, which they manage themselves.

12. What type of food is provided in the mess? How many meals are provided in a day?
A. Vegetarian Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is served to students in the mess.
13. Are there any sport facilities & what are the extracurricular activities provided to students?
A. There are sports equipments that students can borrow for the recreational purpose such as badminton, table tennis, and football along with a few indoor games. Apart from sports, students are also involved in cultural activities on a regular basis. Yoga classes are conducted by an expert.
14. What are the Attendance rules applicable at the Institute?
A. 75% Attendance is compulsory to be eligible for end semester jury.
15. What are the Infrastructure and other facilities available at the Institute?

A. Laptop and SLR Camera.
17. Is public transport easily available from the Institute?
A. Yes, there are auto rickshaws and cab services that can be availed.
18. Does the Institute offer Distance learning course?
A. No
19. Does the Institute have any other campus in India?
A. No. However, IICD has collaborations with various organisations in India and abroad.
20. After online registration is it necessary to send the printout copy by post to the Institute?
A. No
21. What are the rules regarding cancellation, withdrawal of admission? What are rules related to refund of fee?
A. If a candidate has been given provisional admission on the basis of appearance in the qualifying examination and result is awaited, and the candidate fails to clear the exam, the admission is cancelled. Refund policy will be applicable in accordance to the number of days from the date of commencement of academic session i.e. 15th July 2024.
A written request for withdrawal of admission is to be submitted to the Head (Academics Administration), IICD, Jaipur. The candidate will be required to surrender the original Admission Receipt / E-Receipt issued at the time of Admission while applying for withdrawal of admission. No request for withdrawal of admission would be entertained without original Admission Receipt and copy of cancelled cheque for bank account details in the withdrawal policy.
The Application for withdrawal must be submitted on working days between 10.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. within the stipulated dates as mentioned. For details refer to the admission guidelines 2024-25. The decision of IICD on matters related to refund or withdrawal of candidature will be final. No further appeal or representation in this regard will be entertained.

23. What kind of test will be taken in the Entrance Test?
A. Entrance Test details for Under Graduate (UG Degree Programme)& Post Graduate (PG Degree programme ) Professional Programme’s weightage as mentioned below:
a. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test 35%
b. Material, Color & Conceptual Test 45%
c. Personal Interview 20%

a. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test

Test is designed to judge the abilities such as estimation of sizes and proportion, observation, synthesis and visual interpretation and general awareness.

b. Material, Color & Conceptual Test

This test will assess the following abilities:

  • Intelligent use of materials, conceptualization and realization of a 3 dimensional form& skill of handling materials.
  • To observe, think and expand ideas, create solutions based on a plan and strategy.
  • Ability to provide multiple solutions to the given problem with written description.
Material required for Material, Color & Conceptual Test: You must bring pens, pencils (2B, 4B & 6B), scissor, scale, cello tape, paper cutter, fevi-stick, eraser, color pencils/dry pastels/water color etc.

c. Interview

To evaluate the individual personality in the prospective candidates:

  • Aptitude to crafts
  • Intelligence quotient (IQ)
  • Communication Ability
  • General Awareness about Crafts & Design
  • Overall Personal Achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

Portfolio – It is advisable to bring some examples of your creative work to show the interview panel. This would help the panel to understand your capabilities. It could be anything that you have done yourself –Sketching, Painting, Embroidery and Photography etc. or if you have worked with material, or written anything creative that could also be included in your portfolio.
