Prof. Neeraj Gupta is an accomplished architect, town planner, management consultant, and academician with over thirty-seven years of multidisciplinary experience. He has held several leadership roles in the education sector for more than two decades. Currently, he serves as the Academic Advisor at the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design. He superannuated in September 2025 as Professor of Architecture at the Central University of Rajasthan, where he also served as the Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge).
During his tenure at the Central University of Rajasthan, Prof. Gupta held several key administrative positions, including Chief Vigilance Officer, Director of DDU Kaushal Kendra, Head of the Department of Architecture, Dean of the School of Architecture, Dean of Academics, and officiating Controller of Examinations. His earlier professional engagements include serving as Visiting Faculty at IIT Rajasthan, HUDCO Chair Professor of Urban Development at HCM Rajasthan State Institute of Public Administration, and Senior Town Planner at Jaipur Development Authority.
As an architect and planner, Prof. Gupta has designed over 300 building and township projects. Beyond physical infrastructure, he has conceptualized and developed numerous innovative academic and training programmes, including more than 150 thematic training modules. Notably, he pioneered programmes such as the Master’s in Sustainable Architecture and the Bachelor of Vocation in Interior Design. The B.Voc programme introduced the concept of multiple entry and exit as early as January 2014, with a strong emphasis on traditional and vernacular architecture and Indian cultural value systems.
A seasoned trainer and facilitator, Prof. Gupta has conducted over 1,700 learning events, workshops, and seminars for administrators, professionals, educators, and students. In recent years, he has delivered more than 100 sessions across faculty development programmes, webinars, and workshops, focusing on various aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. His recent engagements include sessions on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), research culture, and academic leadership, governance, and management as part of NEP orientation and sensitization programmes.
He has also provided technical expertise on sustainable campus development to premier national institutions such as IITs and IIMs. Additionally, he has contributed as an expert member on numerous committees of state governments, educational institutions, and organizations, including the Reserve Bank of India.
Trained in online teaching-learning methodologies in the United Kingdom, Prof. Gupta has authored several training modules and monographs in the fields of behavioural sciences, management, training, and education. He prefers to describe himself as a ‘Learning Facilitator,’ reflecting his learner-centric approach to education and professional development.
