Workshops/Studios

IICD has fully equipped workshops and studios where students are encouraged to develop concepts and experiment with different materials, processes and techniques. They realize their ideas, make models and prototypes and learn with a hands-on approach to problem solving.

Workshops/Studios

The workshops have the latest in machinery and expertise and students are able to make products in wood, metal, textile, apparel, ceramic and leather.

   
Wood Workshop
This is spacious, well lit workshop with latest cutting, turning and joinery machines. It has full-fledged facilities to make large and small prototypes in wood.
 
 
Metal Workshop
Has facility for cutting, processing, moulding and creating desired forms from metal sheets. Student experiment combining materials like wood and ceramic with metal.
 
 
Textile Studio
This studio has two sections i.e. weaving and dyeing & printing. Weaving section has all the facilities of developing woven samples on looms. The dyeing printing section has necessary facilities to develop dyed samples in natural and synthetic dyes. Facilities for block and screen-printing on different fabrics add an opportunity for research and development.
 
  Apparel Studio
Has facilities for pattern cutting, draping, and stitching with latest machinery and equipment. This facilitates garments designing and development of accessories.
 
  Leather Workshop
The primary purpose of the studio is to provide an opportunity to explore leather with latest machines for skiving, splitting and stitching leather. It also has hand tools for prototyping in leather.
 
  Ceramic Studio
This is equipped with potter wheel; ceramic kiln and various hand tools that facilitate design prototyping in ceramic and terracotta.

 
  Digital Tools Studio
This well equipped and students learn to use digital tools at every stage of product development and documentation.
